Good for quick searches

I used the Storied subscription for a month. Found some census records for my great-grandparents. Interface was easy enough to navigate. It worked for what I needed.

Fun to dig into family history

I tried out Storied because my friend was talking about it. I got the annual subscription and started building my family tree. It was pretty cool how easy it was to link up family stories and photos. I found some old newspaper archives about my grandmother that I never knew existed, which was a nice surprise. Took me a minute to figure out the relationship mapping but once I did, it was all good. Definitely kept me busy for a while.

Great value on annual plan

I was looking to get into genealogy without spending a fortune, so I checked out Storied during their holiday sale. I got a pretty good deal on the annual subscription, I think it was around 40% off. I also started with the 14-day free trial first to make sure it had what I needed. I uploaded my existing family tree and found a lot of new historical records, especially some military records for my grandfather that I hadn't seen before. The digital storytelling platform seems like a neat feature, though I haven't used it much yet. For the price I paid, it felt like a solid investment for exploring my family's past.

Hey, thinking of signing up for Storied. Do they ever have sales? Like, should I wait for a holiday or something, or just grab it now?

S Shane Whitfield 1 month ago
Yeah, they totally do! I snagged my annual subscription during a Black Friday deal last year for like 30% off. They usually have good offers around major holidays or even for National Family History Month, I think.

They almost always have a free trial you can use to check it out first. For discounts, definitely keep an eye out around Christmas or maybe Mother's/Father's Day, those seem to be popular times for them to run promotions.

Thinking about trying Storied, but wondering how their record collection stacks up against something like Ancestry. Are they missing a lot of stuff or is it pretty comprehensive?

T Tom 2 months ago
From what I've seen, Storied has a good range of records, definitely a lot of the usual suspects like census and birth/death records. But for super niche stuff, Ancestry might still have a slight edge in sheer volume. Depends what you're looking for.

They have a ton of records, especially all the big ones you'd expect. Plus, I really like their storytelling features. Makes the research feel more alive than just a list of names. You can import trees from Ancestry too, so it's easy to try both.
